Day 2 - July 1
Today is Friday and we have Orientation for school at Lorenzo de Medici. We get all our information about my classes (the Food of Italy and Photography in Florence). Let me just tell you that I am so excited about starting school! And I come to find out that my roommates are all "serious" about their classes (business, marketing, italian) whereas I am more for the fun factor! Also I found out that Harry Potter is playing at the theater in English on July 13 which is TWO DAYS before it comes out in the US!! WOOOO HOOO!! Anyways...we get to talk to our advisor at LDM and she explains everything we need to know about safety and school work. So we all went home after that to re-energize since it has been about 3 days since I have slept at all and get ready for our whole school, free dinner. Let me just say...it was not dinner. There were appetizers and you could only get one small plate!! Since when is that enough food?!?! And one tiny cup of wine?! We then decided it was absolutely necessary to go find more food...and more drinks!! The whole group goes out together and it was a blast!! We first go to a place called the Lochness Lounge where its tag line was "Drink with Nessy...and get real messy" haha it was funny, but pretty empty so instead we got some pizza (of course) before we headed to the next place. The Lion's Fountain was next, which was a very American type pub with tshirts from different colleges all over the US on the ceiling and people's signatures and school names written all over the walls. It was a lot of fun. We got some good drink specials, I jumped on the other side of the bar to take pictures and they let me help bartend, and we had a blast! Pictures galore! Then we went to one other place and eventually headed home, although it was pretty early in teh morning by that point...like around 5am. But being the geek I am, when I got home I decided to skype none other than my mom. Apparently I was being SO LOUD according to my roommmates but at the time, I had no idea! It turned into a big joke about how I skype my mom and brother drunk until 6am my time while everyone else is in bed. Oh well...!! I'm sure my mom appreciated talking to me, sober or not!
